When we built MovingOrders, the first question on the whiteboard was: what do we actually need to know? The answer shaped everything.
The Document Demand Problem
Most platforms that serve military families ask for PCS orders, an SF-50, or both. They do this because they have no other way to verify military affiliation. The document becomes a proxy for the credential.
This creates three real problems. First, it puts operational information into the hands of a commercial platform — deployment dates, unit designations, receiving installation. Second, it creates a document storage liability the platform was never designed to handle. Third, it excludes the families who receive orders with short notice and have not yet printed anything.
Verification Without Documents
MovingOrders verifies military affiliation through DEERS and SCRA — government databases that confirm status without requiring the member to hand us anything. Verification takes approximately 90 seconds. No upload. No OCR. No document stored.
CAC and PIV holders authenticate through DoD PKI and Federal PKI respectively. The credential does the work. The document never enters the picture.
What We Ask Instead
- →Installation — where are you going?
- →Rank and branch — so BAH math is correct.
- →Dependent count — so unit size is right.
- →Move-in timeline — so listings are filtered to what is actually available.
That is it. The system handles the rest. A member may choose to share orders through our RELOCATE-08 timeline feature — and when they do, our AI reads the orders and pre-populates their move timeline. But that is a choice, not a requirement. It will never be a requirement.
No feature, tier, or module on MovingOrders will ever require orders, an SF-50, or any government document upload.
